POPULAR SPORTS was established in the year 1932 by a Ball Badminton Legend Thiru.V.P.Sambanda Mudaliar who had hundreds of winning trophies and awards to his crown. Started with a investment of Rs.20, crossed with a several miles of hard work and dedication to achieve one among the oldest and top ranking sports retail in tamilnadu. To be particular it’s the 3rd generation continuing the business.

Thiru.V.S.Govindaraj Mudaliar, eldest son of Thiru.V.P.Sambanda Mudaliar joined the profile in late 50s, with his unmatched potential like leadership qualities,work dedication, sincerity, and commitment he laid a strong foundation for the company existence and survival till date He drew the company in a successful path, gained reputation in the world of sports retailers.

Thiru.V.S.Sudakar(Late), younger brother of Thiru.V.S.Govindaraj joined hands with company in late 70s. With guidance and support of his elder brother Thiru.V.S.Govindaraj Mudaliar, he implemented new ideas and business principles which in turn increased the volume and scope of the company. By his time the company reached the bench mark of one of the largest sports turnover making sports retail in Tamilnadu.

He expanded the business scope with branches like POPULAR FITNESS, LEO SPORTEX, POPULAR BADMINTON and POPULAR SPORTS TIRUVANNAMALAI.
